44 Scraps First Leg of U.S. Tour

Ex-Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker recently broke his arm,
and the injury has forced his new group, (+44)--which also features fellow
former Blink-182 bassist/singer Mark Hoppus--to scratch the first leg
of its inaugural US tour.
Originally scheduled
to launch Friday (10/13) on the band's home turf of San Diego, the run
will now commence with a Nov. 8 performance in Tampa, FL. That show and
nine other previously announced November stops are the only confirmed
engagements on the band's itinerary, which is included below.
In all, the group
has pulled the plug on 18 shows, which it plans to reschedule; the make-up
dates, which have not yet been announced, will take place in December,
according to a press release.
"We can't wait
to get out on the road and show everyone what we've been up to for the
past year and a half," Hoppus said in a statement issued Monday (10/9).
"We will get the word out with the new dates in the next couple of
days."
In addition to the
pre-Nov. 8 cancellations, the group has also killed a previously announced
Nov. 16 show in Providence, RI; no reason was given.
Last week, Barker
revealed that he had broken his right arm while shooting a video for "When
Your Heart Stops Beating," the title track from (+44)'s forthcoming
debut. The injury was exacerbated after Barker forged ahead with seven
shows during a European promo tour. Doctors have instructed the drummer
to rest the arm for eight weeks.
As previously reported,
Interscope Records will issue (+44)'s debut album, "When Your Heart
Stops Beating," on Nov. 14. The set was produced by Hoppus and Barker,
with longtime Blink-182 producer Jerry Finn serving as executive producer.
Rounding out (+44)'s
lineup are guitarists Shane Gallagher (The Nervous Return) and Craig Farbaugh
(Transplants, Lars Frederiksen & The Bastards). The band takes its
name from the international dialing code for the United Kingdom.
Blink-182 split in
2004, and vocalist/guitarist Tom DeLonge formed a new band dubbed Angels
and Airwaves.
